Nutrition for Golf
Good Golf is all about getting into the zone and staying there. One way to weaken your mind and energy levels is to eat poor foods, rich in sugar, and heavy in grease. The worse you eat, the better your odds of a poor score. Let's face it, look at the TV on Sunday and you will see most of the better golfers have flat bellies. Flat bellies allow them to walk around the course and have more energy to focus on golf and swinging the club in a consistent manner.
So where am I going with all this? Use good common sense when preparing for a big round. Avoid the fast food and eat a healthy meal. Don't know what healthy means, consult with your doc or a nutritionist. As for drinks, water is the best.
For mid-round snacks, again use your brain. A hot dog is tasty but worthless for performance. Pick the best food is on the menu, even if it cost a buck or two more. Snack and drink fluids before you get hungry/thirtsy. Once you are hungry or thirsty, odds are it is too late, your performance has already suffered.
So remember, to play your best, eat the best food. If you want to play like junk, eat it.
