Golf Course Management
"How can I improve my golf course management?"
The mental game and the way you think will have a dramatic impact on your scores. Changing the way you think is just like working on your golf swing. It takes some time and an effort.
If you haven't read "Golf is Not a Game of Perfect" by Dr. Bob Rotella, do yourself a favor and buy a copy and read it a few times. This sports psychologist has many pearls of wisdom that will allow you to find the elusive zone.
In general though, to manage yourself around the golf course, you need to...
- Know your game, distances, strengths and weaknesses
- Know the course
- Evaluate course and shot conditions
- Develop a pre-shot routine and use it
- Manage your emotions
If you don't know where to begin, start by calling your PGA professional and setting up a golf lesson/coaching session. Be sure to notify him that you want to work on your course management and mental game. It is your lesson, keep you instructor on point. If they want to work on your swing and don't teach you what you want, then find another pro that can give you what you need.
