Golf Club Fitting
"Why do I need my golf clubs fitted?"
Every person is different, taller, stronger, wider, thinner, whatever. To walk into a store and buy a set of clubs would be cool, but the odds of those clubs fitting you and helping your golf game are slim to none. In order to get properly fit, you should see your PGA professional so they can assess your swing and run you through some tests to ensure a proper fit. Without a proper fit, you will be training your swing around ill-suited equipment, thus ingraining habits that will ensure poor scoring will persist. Properly fit clubs will encourage the development of good swing habits.
A good balanced swing is the key to a proper club fitting. In order to really get the best fit, you will need a balanced and repeatable swing. Don't have one, then you still need to get fit for length, lie, flex and loft. Your professional can get you in an inexpensive starter set and when you get better you can upgrade to a more versatile set of clubs. In the meantime, consider taking a lesson a month to help aid in the development of a good and balanced swing. Depending on your vigor, you can have your swing built in 6 months to 2 years.
